Building the Future Workforce: UC Davis Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Launches Summer Semiconductor, AI, and Data Science High School Fellowship Program
The UC Davis BE-STARSE Program is excited to launch another impactful summer of semiconductor technologies, data sciences, and AI workforce development University of California, Davis, supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) ExLENT program, and NW AI Hub-UC Davis and the United States Department of Defense.
This summer, BE-STARSE is proud to welcome 13 outstanding high school students from Northern and Central California to our Junior Fellowship Program. These students earned their fellowship positions after successfully completing six weeks of hands-on STEM learning through our Future Scientists and Engineers Spring Workshop.
Throughout the summer, fellows will collaborate in teams on cutting-edge research projects including:
• Empowering local government with Artificial Intelligence with our partners at the City of Tracy - Local Government.
• Quantum Mechanics and STEM Outreach with our partner, Stephen Callahan at San Joaquin County Office of Education.
• Optical Biosensors, Plasmonics, and Advanced Sensing Technologies with mentorship from UC Davis faculty and staff.
Through mentorship, research experiences, and applied learning, these students are building the technical skills and confidence needed to pursue future careers in the semiconductor and AI industries.
BE-STARSE is incredibly proud to support and inspire the next generation of innovators, researchers, and technology leaders.
