The BE-STARSE program builds on the CITRIS Workforce Innovation Program (WIP), launched in 2022.
Eligibility and Focus Areas:
- Open to Undergraduates: The program is available to undergraduates of 4-year universities and 2-year community colleges in northern California
- Internship fields: Opportunities are available in semiconductors, data science, robotics, aviation, climate and energy
Opportunities for BE-STARSE ExLENT Fellows:
- Research Traineeships: Work in UC Davis STEM labs
- Engineer traineeships: Gain practical experience at our partner companies
- Skill development: Acquire in-demand skills through hands-on experiential learning
Additional Training and Support:
- Leadership and Professional Development: ExLENT fellows receive comprehensive training in leadership, professional development, and project management
- Ongoing support: Participants are supported throughout the program by dedicated CITRIS staff and a community of peers
Compensation and Certification
- Stipends: Fellow are paid stipends each summer for participating in the program
- Certification: To earn a certificate, students must complete work assignments, attend weekly workshops, and present a final project at a concluding symposium.
BE-STARSE aims to provide transformative learning experience and equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for successful STEM careers.
